This workshop will provide an understanding of eroticism and human sexuality from an Object Relations perspective. Presenters will provide a contemporary review of the Freudian theory of sexuality from an object relational perspective. Eroticism from a Kleinian, British Middle School and Kernberg perspective will be discussed. Presenters will highlight the latest research on sexuality and discuss gender, cultural and historical issues. We will explore the latest theoretical and research developments around sexual addictions and paraphilias. There will be special emphasis on clinical issues such as transference, countertransference, resistance, assessment and developmental factors in working with issues of eroticism and sexuality.

Jeffrey Seinfeld, Ph.D. is a professor of the Silver School of Social Work at New York University. He is the author of Object Relations psychoanalytic texts such as "The Bad Object," "The Empty Core," "Interpreting and Holding," and "Containing Rage, Terror and Despair." He’s a scientific member of the Object Relations Institute where he lectures at annual conferences and events.

Brittany Lacour, MSW is social worker and sexuality educator in Colorado. She received her B.A. in Psychology from Marymount Manhattan College, she earned her MSW from New York University. Ms. Lacour will begin her doctoral work in the fall. She currently works as a educational Program Specialist at Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains where she designs and teaches sexuality programs for adolescents and adults.
