ONE YEAR EVENING
PROGRAM:
AN INTRODUCTION TO OBJECT RELATIONS THEORY AND CLINICAL
APPLICATION
This program introduces students to the evolution of object relations
theory, psychotherapeutic technique, and the work of the American and the
British theorists, S. Freud, Melanie Klein, D.W. Winnicott and R.D.
Fairbairn, as well as contemporary object relations practitioners such as
Otto Kernberg, Arnold Modell, Jeffrey Seinfeld and Susan Kavaler-Adler.
This program consists of Group Supervision and Courses; each counts as one
class. Group Supervision takes place from 6:15-7:30 pm, and classes take
place from 8-9:15 pm.
Students in this program take the same classes as the first year candidates
in the Four Year Program for Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis. However,
there are no requirements for supervision, case presentation or personal
analysis—although participants are invited to present clinical examples of
their work throughout the year.
The One Year Program students will receive academic credit for their
coursework, which they can transfer to the Four Year Program—should they
choose to apply.
